BEIJING -- Chinese key economic policymakers on Wednesday vowed to meet growth targets for 2024 and insisted they still have space to maneuver, a day after the government unveiled a socioeconomic plan that some economists consider insufficient to boost business confidence.

In a rare joint news conference attended by five top officials -- the heads of Beijing's macroeconomic management body, the finance and trade ministries, the securities regulator and the central bank -- policymakers addressed a range of issues in an attempt to allay concerns about China's shaky recovery.
