PARIS -- The International Energy Agency on Tuesday announced plans for an office in Singapore, its first location outside its Paris headquarters, aiming for a permanent presence in Southeast Asia as the region's appetite for energy grows.

The regional cooperation center, set to begin operating in the second half, is intended to support the organization's policy guidance efforts, including supply and demand forecasting and recommendations for the shift to renewables.
