Indonesia's Jokowi begins trip to Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei

Talks to include economy and defense as China's clout grows

JAKARTA/MANILA -- Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Tuesday left for the Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei to meet his counterparts in those countries. 

Widodo is slated to meet President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday during his visit to the Philippines, as the neighbors work to enhance their security cooperation and economic ties against a backdrop of growing Chinese influence.
