BANGKOK -- Myanmar's shadow civilian government and key ethnic groups have vowed to keep pressure on the military regime but expressed a willingness to negotiate.

In a statement on Wednesday -- the eve of the third anniversary of the military takeover -- the National Unity Government (NUG), Chin National Front, Karen National Union (KNU) and Karenni National Progressive Party offered talks with "responsible leadership of the Myanmar military" to end military rule and transition peacefully to a civilian government, "subject to their unconditional acceptance of six political objectives."
