Myanmar's City Mart ramps up expansion of convenience stores

BANGKOK/YANGON -- Myanmar's City Mart Holdings has embarked on an ambitious expansion of its convenience store business, taking advantage of the opportunity afforded by the vacuum left after stagnant investments by foreign multinationals.

At a City Express convenience store in Yangon's business district, a clerk swiftly rang up orders through a smartphone payment system. The exterior and interior of the shop was designed in the City Express brand's red, white and blue color scheme.
