TOKYO -- Japan's Resona Bank plans to open an office in Vietnam's capital by the end of the year to help small and mid-sized Japanese companies do business in the country, the bank's president Shoichi Iwanaga told Nikkei.

"We hope to strengthen our local network and connect the Tokyo metropolitan area, the Kansai area and the Asian region," Iwanaga said in an interview. Japan's Kansai area includes the city of Osaka, where Resona Bank is headquartered.
