Thailand weighs bet on legalizing casinos to draw more tourists

BANGKOK/SINGAPORE/HONG KONG -- Thailand has taken a step toward legalizing casinos, a move that would pit it against other regional gambling destinations as the country aims to inject new life into its tourism sector.

Lower house lawmakers approved a report last month on the possibility of setting up an entertainment complex featuring a casino in one of 22 locations, including Bangkok.
