Vietnam's baby food market draws Japanese brand for another bite

Asahi Group Foods to emphasize health in Southeast Asian country

Doctors and nutritionists try baby food in Vietnam. (Asahi Group Foods)

TOKYO -- Japan's Asahi Group Foods has made a fresh start in Vietnam's baby food market with a new sales strategy that emphasizes teaching good nutritional habits instead of assuming that consumers automatically associate its brand with quality.

The starting point for its latest move came at a September 2023 symposium in Hanoi on maternal and child health. Japanese and Vietnamese companies participated in the event, including Asahi Group Foods.
