HO CHI MINH CITY -- Vietnam's government has requested technology transfers from energy and construction giant PowerChina as Chinese businesses join the swell of foreign companies shifting investment into the Southeast Asian country.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha welcomed PowerChina's executives to Hanoi on Tuesday, where they discussed wind and solar projects, as well as cross-border rail under Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative, according to the government's official website.
